When SFI lost the vice
president and general secretary post at Jawaharlal Nehru University to
AISA of CPI(ML) then every one thought CPM is loosing grounds due to
Singur and Nandigram. But really CPM is losing ground in the good book
of people? Not really, the student union elections held in the state in a recent
times tells a different story. In a Student Union election at Andul Prabhu Jagabandhu
College of Howrah, SFI retain its 23 seats plus they have increased
their number to 33. In the last election SFI won 23 seats while the
opposition had 10 seats. This time all the opposition student union
forces teamed up to defeat SFI candidates. TMC student wing, CP, and
DSO united alliance contested with SFI. SFI retains all the seats of
last elections as well as they snatch 10 more seats from the combined
alliance. It seems CPM's industrialization policy help them to win
student union election. |
