BJP won the Gujarat state
assembly election with nearly two third majority as we expected. BJP bagged 117 seats
where as in last term they had 127 . Congress has increased their
margin slightly from 51 to sixty two and others are 3. In these
election there were lots of controversies over election results. Many
even thought Congress will defeat Narendra Modi led BJP government.
This was because when few BJP leaders were campaigning against Modi.
For over two months certain BJP rebels had declared a war against
Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The rebels included two former Chief
ministers, Keshubhai Patel and Suresh Mehta, a former home minister
Gordhan Zadaphiya and other unhappy BJP leaders. There are other
reasons too. A percentage of Gujarati people are anti Muslim. In
middle ages they have kings and leaders campaigned for
destruction of Muslims. Second reason is weaker enemies.
Congress is not a organized force in Gujarat any longer and the days
of Mahatma's Congress has gone past. In center the Congress led UPA
government is far from the interest of common people. Excessive
increase in food grain prices and the central Government's failure to
take necessary measure to stop price hike effected majority of people
in the country, many of them live in Gujarat. In last elections
we have seen Congress poor performance and they lost due to price
hike. After this no such event or measure taken by Government to
reduce cost. Probably for this Congress projected Rahul Gandhi as
leader of the party. They have a dream of single party rule in India
Plus they tried to relate Gandhi title with Mahatma by introducing
Rahul, Third is Narendra Modi's positive politics which are
industrial development, rural development and giving tickets to new
faces or local leaders. People are always in favor of development. |
